A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Quick Tour through 21 Years

Sparknotes: I am a Japanese-American performer currently based out of Los Angeles. I got into performing as an extension of my speech therapy as I was born with speech impediments and fell in love with musical theatre. I performed in local community and professional companies while in high school in the Central Coast of California and upon graduating from high school, I moved to Los Angeles and earned BFA in Acting for Film and Television from Hussian College Los Angeles. WHAT MAKES AN ACTOR?

I was born with a cleft lip and palate, a rare birth condition that separates by entire upper mouth through my lip in two upon birth. After many surgeries, I was sent to speech therapy and as an extension, theatre, as I found the warmups and diction required to sing to an audience incredibly helpful. It also helped that if I was in a musical I got to stay up past my bedtime.

It wouldn't be until much later that I realized how incredibly necessary theatre was to my mental health. I owe it my life, and I've dedicated my life to it.

GETTING MORE INVOLVED

As soon as I hit high school, I joined the football team to try and live up to everyone's expectations that I'd be like my brother. Long story short, I quit after the first game and was cast in the school production. This gave me the confidence I needed to actively allow myself to pursue this as a career and I started to get more involved with local companies both community and professional and started working my way up in musicals, trying to learn every skill possible even though dance terrified me.

When it came time to apply for college, I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and it came down to picking which school would fit me best. I eventually decided on Studio School Los Angeles, and moved to Los Angeles in August of 2016.

A NEW MEDIUM

While in college, I quickly acquired commercial representation and feel in love with Film acting. In my sophomore year, I switched majors from Musical Theatre to Film Acting and have tried my best to "make new friends but keep the old".

I focused very intently on the new challenges and joy that film acting brought to me and have since succeeded in acquiring phenomenal representation and am able to constantly workshop my skills with an amazing group of collaborators. However, I still couldn't escape my love for the stage.

I received my EMC Card in October of 2019 with a prod Equity Card in the summer of 2019 in a production of  "42nd St" which revitalized my love for dance and my fuel for the stage and I earned my Equity Card in the summer of 2019 in a production of "Anne, A New Play".

I have equal amounts of love for both mediums and have accepted the challenges and demands of trying to pursue both at the same time. Can't wait to see what happens next.
